Grid Optimisation Study
For our customer Microenergy, we showed a path for the hybrid electrification of an off-grid Nigerian village. The goal was to satisfy the village’s power demand for 90% by solar generation and battery storage. With our novel methods we were able to save 20% compared to state-of-the-art tools proving our methods to be more accurate and efficient.
In this study, we evaluated a microgrid planning tool with respect to our customer’s requirements. We analysed both the functionality and the code quality. We were able to point out existing limitations in the usage and results of the planning tool. At the same time, we came up with significant improvements to the company‘s software development process and the source code quality.
Longstanding Research Experience
Dynamic Stability Analysis
The CoNDyNet project, in which Dr. Sabine Auer finished her PhD thesis, demonstrated that our approach to dynamic stability is an innovative and viable solution. This led to a number of publications in physics and engineering journals on the topics of assessing the stability of renewable power grids. This work was funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and had a consortium of leading industry representatives like Siemens and research partners like Forschungszentrum Jülich. This gives us more than 3 years of experience in the field of stability analysis.
